AnnaTé Lachmy moved from Israel to New York City in 1999 with dreams of becoming a happy person... Israel native AnnaTé may well have been born a performer. "I've created my own songs since I can remember," she says. Already influenced by Western artists - Sinead O'Connor, Cyndi Lauper, Sade, Tracey Chapman, and Bjork, among many others and with the influence of Israeli/ Arabic / Persian music, AnnaTé performed at many school events, weddings, bar mitzvahs etc. She served in the Israeli army for two-and-a-half years (where she acted as a lieutenant operations officer for an infantry brigade); and even under the tough reality, would sing and perform for the soldiers, "to make them smile and forget about the battlefield for a while." Afterwards is when AnnaTé immigrated to the U.S. to fulfill her dream of becoming a singer. By then, she had already written hundreds of songs in her native Hebrew; she's since effortlessly made the transition to writing in English. Even though the "only"instrument she's playing is her voice, she comes up with beautiful unique melodies for her songs. AnnaTédescribes her own sound as Passionate Pop : a unique blend of pop, house, soft rock, Middle Eastern motifs and other radically varying styles. Her voice coach, Elayna Woods, describes AnnaTéas "a very sensitive, sensual, intelligent, talented young woman. She's got a lot of guts and drive. Just a joy." Her former voice coach, Ainegua says: "She's very pure-hearted. She rejoices in life and celebrates life. She's completely passionate about her music. She wants to send a message. Her voice is very powerful, it carries a lot of emotion." Her killer three-and-a-half octave vocal range is a force to be reckoned with. Her singing has drawn comparisons to Ofra Haza, the late Israeli diva best known in the U.S. for her vocal contribution to the 1987 M/A/R/R/S hit “Pump Up the Volume.”
