Singer/songwriter, Indie self-recorded: Wm Perry writes & performs tight, well-crafted songs. Honest & not boring, sometimes disturbing, with jangled-y edges. T
"I approach the writing of songs as if it's the only tool I have, with which to do something I don't understand." BIOGRAPHY: Failed. Kept moving. Your typical starving artist story. BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by several years in the Sign Industry. Front man in a multitude of short-lived bands, playing in clubs and warehouses in Chicago and LA's artsy, marginal war-zone neighborhoods. Now solo artist, self-recording. Bought a cheap, old house on Craig's List (without seeing it first!) and moved from Chicago to Cincinnati, an "economic refugee" you could say. Now completing renovations that make four floors of combined living/studio space and working on new music.

Lyrics
Fake Sleep – William McGuffey Perry Fake sleep will keep me on ice The next dream would drop me through Fake objectivity will keep me artificially removed I pretend to be staring at something far off Dialing the brightness up I’ll get behind something solid Until everything stops Mirages and false starts strip away the safe distances Decoys and spare parts choke the exits and entrances I can’t make out my shape anymore If I was right that I could before When I looked to check the effort it took To see a real solid thing where I stood The fake fear will keep me on top of the trouble The fake peace will seem to stop Real losses will mount Where I can’t track or count On the fake doubt to ease up I reach a clear stretch I guess, it’s hard to see I wash off the dirt that covers the damage conveniently The fake sleep will keep me on ice The next dream will drop me through Fake objectivity will keep me artificially removed I pretend to be staring at something far off Dialing the brightness up And get behind something solid Until everything stops
