The choice is yours: Walk with God or run with the devil.
acoustic folk country lai
Lyricist on an endless quest for the perfect melody.
I'm afraid I can't claim to be a band, although I have been known to jump on a bandwagon from time to time. No, I'm just a humble lyricist who is in absolute awe of the composers who have stumbled into my life and bothered to wrap a melody around some of my words. I've been attempting to legitimately call myself a lyricist since I was about 14 years old. Have a listen, won't you, and let me know if I qualify.

Story behind the song
On a church marquee I saw the slogan, "You can't walk with God if you're running with the devil," and thought, there's a song in there.
Lyrics
You Can't Walk With God (if you're running with the devil) ©2004 Greg C. Brown/Tim Keesee/Jayme Hammond CHORUS You can't walk with God if you're running with the devil You won’t get too far if you're livin' like a rebel You'll miss the Pearly Gates and get left behind No, you can't walk with God if you're running with the devil V1 When I was a young boy, my mama said to me "Son, you've got to walk the straight and narrow Just let that devil be” She took me to the church house every Sunday morn’ Where I heard that ol' preacher say "Consider yourself warned…" (REPEAT CHORUS) V2 Stubborn as an old mule, I turned God away While trouble kept me company And far away from His sweet grace But, when I reached the low point, of deep and dark despair I remembered that ol’ preacher’s words And prayed that God still cared… (REPEAT CHORUS) BRIDGE Now the blood of God flows through me And Satan's seein’ red Just when he thought he had me down These words ran through my head (REPEAT CHORUS) 2X
