I'm a singer/songwriter and am losing my voice to a neuromuscular disorder. So I am on a quest to have my songs heard and hopefully recorded by someone.
(Chorus) Only in the movies in the very last row
With the sound turned up and the lights turned low
She can let herself laugh she can let herself cry
She can let her heart soar she can let her dreams fly
But never in the real world
Only in the movies
She never had it easy growing up down in Alabam’
Her momma liked to drink and her daddy was a violent man
And she found out the other kids could be just as cruel
When she had to wear the same old clothes every day at school
But every Saturday afternoon she couldn’t wait to go
Get her chores done early and head to the picture show
Cause in the darkened room she found another world
Where she didn’t have to be daddy’s little girl
She’d watch the plot unfold with Betty Davis eyes
And through the silver screen she’d find her wings and fly
(chorus)
Her momma escaped one night through the Pearly Gates
And in her daddy’s cold cold eyes she could see her fate
So like a movie she’d seen a hundred times before
She grabbed the gun from her daddy’s dresser drawer
She watches TV now from a room up on ward three
But it’s all the same to her cause in her mind she’s finally free
(chorus)
