When it comes to gaining God's favor, there is nothing I can do that He will accept. His son Jesus gave the best when He died for me at Calvary. Our faith in this finished work will be accepted by God for Salvation.

Story behind the song
I have often thought about the price that was paid to obtain our eternal redemption ( Hebrews 9:12). If our righteousnesses ( the best we can do) were offered to gain God's favor (Salvation), then we would never be justified because it would be filthy rags doing the job.
