19 tones to the octave fun.
electronic classical experimental contemporary microtonal chamber xenharmonic non12 untwelve detwelvulate
Eclectic microtonal/xenharmonic 21st-century
The time has come to say no to twelve tone equal. Ask Ivor Darreg. He knows. This project is, among other things, an argument for the further exploration of microtonal/xenharmonic tunings by more musicians. If you find this argument compelling or completely repulsive, please let me know. This project is also a response to the recognized need for more examples available on the internet, for the curious. The curious will never hope to get anywhere without trying out their ears.

Story behind the song
Well it all started with a "communal variations project" at www.youngcomposers.com (alternately the Young Composers Yahoo! group). Something called "Mozart K1 Variations," located in the "Motive" folder. So I thought I'd do a variation in 19 tones to the octave. Why 19? Believe it or not, 19 is the logical next step after 12. It has good approximations of all the normal-12 intervals and some other nice ones to boot. 15/16 is, by the way, a beautiful time signature.
