Lyrics
Verse 1:
Wooshhhh, the tingling on the back of your neck,
Is only there to remind you that you’re a nervous wreck,
Trying to collect some respect from any passerby,
That takes the time to notice you and look into your eyes,
Connected souls, shared moments,
The wealthy acting like they care about the homeless,
When you’re toneless, falling upon deaf ears,
Trying to water some crops in a drought with tears,
Overcoming your fears is a daily routine,
And anything that deviates is probably just a dream,
You used to dream and have plenty of thoughts,
But none of which had you living on the street in a box,
Some say you got lost in your expectations,
And you didn’t adapt to the situation,
So now you’re trying sleep in foot of snow,
Defying the universal meaning of the word home
Chorus:
And you zone out now…
Resting your hard head on the harder ground,
Trying to wrap your head around the problems that you’re facing,
Wishing you could just take a vacation…
Verse 2:
He used to get the best grades back in high school,
He never skipped class to do drugs and act a fool,
He wasn’t the sharpest tool, but he hid it well,
He focused on his grades in effort to better himself,
He didn’t want your help, nor did he need it,
Staying focused in classroom where he succeeded,
Graduating with honors doing his momma proud,
But he couldn’t stop to cherish it or slow down,
Move onto college now cause he’s a big boy,
Gonna learn some sh** and drink himself into joy,
Another four years of school could be best if,
He can network and find some direction,
But the affection was lost in his drive,
To make positive changes in his life,
Graduated college, did enough to get by,
Standing on a ledge with broken wings to fly
Verse 3:
He’s a college grad, that used to mean something,
A guaranteed way of life and how to function,
But now it means nothing, when you have no experience,
Even if he’s qualified, they don’t want to teach him,
Gotta find the best applicants for the job,
Regardless of eagerness and the person’s heart,
Just trying to make start, he lowers his standards,
Applying to positions he easily could manage,
Sent into a state of panic when he gets denied,
From the simplest jobs, overqualified,
There’s no sigh of relief from his breath when,
He’s constantly dealing in a state of rejection,
But he expects some respect, he won’t settle for less,
He rather live on the street than check to check,
But it’s time to forget, he lost his patience,
So now I guess he’s on some permanent vacation
