Story behind the song
I found a Grollier Encyclopedia cd rom with a time line on the history of the world from Christ to the present. All the death, destruction, war and pain mixed in with incredible art, music, love and creativity.
Where do we all fit in the scheme of things? In life. To be a Cog or try to leave something special behind before you have to leave the world.
Lyrics
Place in Time (c) jay webber 2004
I spent last night in Cairo..I go there all the time..I visited with Lincoln right before he died..I've taken walks with Pharaohs in the valley of the kings..and here I sit in my living room staring at the stars reflecting on the past through space and time..should I be answering some call..looking for my place in time..I sat beside Da Vinci as he studied birds in flight..I played a tune for Mozart and he laughed until he cried..I try to speak with Anne Frank every single day..and here I sit in my living room..staring at the walls..reflecting on the past through space in time should I be answering some call..looking for my place in time..so many souls..playing their roles.. I'm thinkin' bout the loss of life through ages of war..Hell I'm tryin' just to grasp it all..with every rise and fall..I try to listen..to my heart..sift through the works of art..will I ever find my little part..in my place in time..in time..I look across the ocean..I gaze into the sky..thinkin' 'bout my lifetime just a twinkle in gods eye..lookin' for my place in time.
