Wedding song. Mike Dunbar Producer Mike Dunbar- bass, acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, piano, strings-Fred Satterfield- Drums, John Heinrich- Flute, Heather Morris-Vocals, Melody/Lyrics-Lynn Orloff
Story behind the song
I wanted to write a song that incorporated the traditional rhyme of "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" that is said to bring a bride and groom blessings on both their wedding day and marriage. This was produced at the JPF 2008 Demo Derby in Nashville.
Lyrics
"Today Will Be The Best Day"
(c)2009 Lynn Orloff
They say the day you marry
You should have something old
I kept all your love letters
Each one if truth be known
And new will be this diamond ring
You gave me on your knees
When you asked me if I'd marry you
And whispered "baby please"
Today will be the best day, the best day of my life
I'll take you for my husband, you'll take me for your wife
Today's the day we walk the aisle and finish with "I do"
But I know I could never finish, finish loving you
My borrowed is my Grandma's dress
White lace laid on the bed
I promised her I'd wear it
That special day we wed
The sun has chased away the clouds
The heaven's paint a hue
I never saw a sky so fair
So that will be my blue
Today will be the best day, the best day of my life
I'll take you for my husband, you'll take me for your wife
Today's the day we walk the aisle and finish with "I do"
But I know I could never finish, finish loving you
Bridge
I've got something old, something new,
something borrowed, something blue and you....now you
Oh oh today will be the best day, the best day of my life
Our hearts will join together, forever man and wife
Darling today's the day we walk the aisle and finish with "I do"
But I know I could never finish, finish loving you
No I know I will never finish, finish loving you
