Story behind the song
My friends wife had left him after 32 years. He was devasted.. We were talking and as things started sinking in he said there is no how no way I can imagine her or me starting over with someone else. I just dont see it period. I figured a ballad would be better fitting then said nah! I used his feelings to write the song. Denial! I did help him through the whole ordeal and he was encouraging the song all the way.
Lyrics
How am I supposed to learn how to accept I’m so afraid of things that haven’t happened yet I wont believe what I can’t see I don’t see it a photograph Can’t picture me under the broken glass Someday somebody’s gonna take my place A different face in a heart shaped frame I don’t see it in a restaurant You deciding baby what you want Well it’s not on any menu So just order what you’re used to And I don’t see it with anybody else Anybody else…. but me How am I supposed to learn how to forget (I give up) I runaway from things that haven’t happened yet I wont believe what I can’t see I don’t see it on the holidays You telling everyone that you’re okay Can’t keep pretending like I don’t exist Got everybody but yourself convinced And I don’t see it in the bedroom The thought of someone laying next to you Yeah call me crazy call me insecure But these are feelings that I can’t ignore And I don’t see it with anybody else See it with anybody else but me… but me (solo) I wont believe what I can’t see I don’t see it a photograph Can’t picture me under the broken glass Someday somebody’s gonna take my place A different face in a heart shaped frame I don’t see it in a restaurant You deciding baby what you want Well it’s not on any menu So just order what you’re used to I don’t see it on the holidays Your telling everyone that you’re okay Can’t keep pretending like I don’t exist Got everybody but yourself convinced And I don’t see it in the bedroom The thought of someone laying next to you Yeah call me crazy call me insecure But these are feelings that I can’t ignore And I don’t see it with anybody else See it with anybody else but me, but me ©2006
