Story behind the song
My brother, Steve Owen, worked with Murry Wilson for a while at Western Recorders in L.A. in the early seventies, where the original vocal by Rick Henn of the Sunrays was replaced by Steve's vocal (who did a beautuful job). It is only available now on an acetate test pressing issued by the studio. This is my interpretation where I played all the parts and sand the all the vocals while Steve wrote and performed the orchestral sections as well as re-arranging the original chords. All of the work was done in Cakewalk's Sonar v8.5.3, a digital audio work station, that allows recording and overdubbing all of the additional parts to create the final production. Since I live in the east, I send my completed production to Steve over the internet where he added the orchestration and sent it back to me for final mastering. This is Steve and I's first collaboration since the later seventies and we hope to produce more. If you go the links page, there you will find the story of the song discussed by Rick Henn of the Sunrays. The Sunrays had several hits, mainly "I Live For The Sun" and "Andrea". Steve and I are considering another song by the Sunrays called "You Don't Phase Me" and we hope to have this song here sometime in the future. Murry wrote the song for the Beach Boys since they were not charting at the time in addition to his wife, Audrey, during a rough spot in their marriage.
Lyrics
Won't you tell me What you did with ones before me 'Cause I wonder 'bout the lovin' way you warn me I'm not trying to pry into your last good-bye But I feel the past within you weeping So please be patient with me Love, please don't cry No, you don't have to worry Yes, we will be together Forever, you and I (Key Change) Won't you tell me What you were before I found you 'Cause I worry how you feel when I'm around you If I hurry too much and I kiss you It's because I'm happy to be near you So, please be patient with me And we'll get by No, we don't have to worry 'Cause we will be together And it will be forever, forever You and I No, we don't have to worry 'Cause we will be together And it will be forever, forever You and I
