[4/4, brightly] SONG FOR CHARITY (AND FAITH, AND HOPE) --J. Wrabek [THE RAP: This was originally intended for the Bedworth Folk Festival over in England—but they wanted songs that were playable in public. It was supposed to be a song for charity—only Faith and Hope got involved, and all three were girls, and the rest is, well, history. The Bible is full of references to charity, and every single one is a double entendre if you have a dirty enough mind…] CHORUS: Faith and Hope and Charity are three girls that I knew; Preacher talked about ‘em lots—I guess he knew ‘em, too; With ministrations heavenly, they’ve tried to save my soul And Charity’s the greatest one—the preacher told me so. 1. Jesus spoke about ‘em some, years and years ago; I guess that proves that He’s divine, ‘cause how else would He know? He said to get to Heaven, you’ve got to have all three And I’ve tried to do what Jesus said, and see ‘em frequently. CHORUS: Faith and Hope and Charity are three girls that I knew; Preacher talked about ‘em lots—I guess he knew ‘em, too; With ministrations heavenly, they’ve tried to save my soul And Charity’s the greatest one—the preacher told me so. 2. Just open up your Bible and you’re guaranteed to see That Faith and Hope don’t matter much if y’ain’t got Charity; Just walk right over and visit—she’s probably in bed ‘Cause Charity begins at home, just like the Bible said. CHORUS: Faith and Hope and Charity are three girls that I knew; Preacher talked about ‘em lots—I guess he knew ‘em, too; With ministrations heavenly, they’ve tried to save my soul And Charity’s the greatest one—the preacher told me so. 4. No matter if it’s tiring, you can’t lose Hope or Faith, And don’t stop seeking Charity, she’s really worth the wait; I know I’ll miss them terribly when Heavenward I go— I owe my salvation to those damsels down the road. CHORUS: Faith and Hope and Charity are three girls that I knew; Preacher talked about ‘em lots—I guess he knew ‘em, too; With ministrations heavenly, they’ve tried to save my soul And Charity’s the greatest one—the preacher told me so. REPEAT CHORUS, THEN LAS LINE OF CHORUS TO END ©2010 J. Wrabek dba Outside Services Ltd. All the usual rights reserved just in case.
