Story behind the song
this piece was composed (1987) and recorded using "primitive" midi and sound equipment in 1991.. it is from my album WORKS WITH KEYBOARD of the same year.. here are the album notes i wrote at that time.. in view of recent tendencies in modern music i find the last paragraph interestingly relevant.. thanks for listening :-)
"the pieces on this recording are a representative cross-section, and possibly the culmination of my compositional efforts with traditional instruments over the past five years. as well as seeking to explore the ever inherent potential of keyboard instruments for harmonic and rhythmic complexity, they demonstrate my own interest in these fundamental musical parameters. all of the compostions were performed and recorded by the composer with various midi equipment and a macintosh computer.
future endeavors, including my own, will undoubtedly exploit midi's tremendous potential in order to fully address the problems of the acoustical and musical stagnation confronting composers today."
