This song has always been one of my favorites.
The author, James C. Moore, wrote the song based
on Revelation 21:4 where it says "And God shall
wipe away all tears from their eyes; and their shall
be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither
shall there be any more pain: for the former things
are passed away." What a comfort.
The key to God's love for the lost is found in
John 3:16 which is often quoted, but I think more
should be quoted so that the whole story is
understood. John 3:16-21 says "For God so loved
the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should now perish, but
have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son
into the world to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved. He that believeth
on him is not condemed: but he that believeth not is
condemed already, because he hath not believed in
the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this
is the condemnation, that light is come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather that light, because
their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth
evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that
doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may
be manifest, that they are wrought in God."
The simple truth is, I deserve God's wrath for the
things I've done wrong. Jesus took on himself the
wrath of God in my place, so that I can be forgiven,
and God can remain Holy in his judgement of my sins.
Thats the best offer I ever had in this life. Then on
top of that, I'm given eternal life, in a place where
there is no death, no sorrow, no crying, and no more
pain. It is truly a land where my mama and daddy
will "NEVER GROW OLD"
