I wrote this song for my wife of almost 20 years. She gave me two great kids, who are musicians now. Sarah is the best mom in the world. The story is true. Aspens are my favorite tree, and she planted some right outside our window.
Cool Fall Nights
©2008 Kevin Miller
You got the brains,
I got the muscle,
You think things through, and all I do is hustle.
I’m from the farm,
You’re from the city.
And sometimes when we clash it aint too pretty.
Chorus:
But on these cool fall nights,
When the moon is shining bright,
The wind is dancing through the aspen leaves.
I go back and realize,
Everything worked out just right.
Happy you’re still lying next to me.
I wanted family,
You wanted freedom.
And I left you home alone to raise and feed them.
And the times weigh hard,
Sweat, toil and tears.
It’s a miracle we made through the years.
Chorus:
But on these cool fall nights,
When the moon is shining bright,
The wind is dancing through the aspen leaves.
I go back and realize,
Everything worked out just right.
Happy you’re still lying next to me.
Bridge:
When things don’t go the way you planned,
I’ll put flowers in your hand.
