A song I wrote to someone who never heard it and probably never will. It is a submission for the Dreamsville Relationships project. Hope you enjoy it.

Story behind the song
A song I wrote as therapy to help get over a broken heart. This version was recorded during rehearsal in October '009. It's a little bit meaner than what I usually write, but it felt right at the time. When I mixed it I discovered a crackly noise on the drums and guitar and so I tried to get rid of it by taking out some of the high end; consequently, the cymbals are not as crisp as they once were.
Lyrics
Why did you do something like that When I know you really cared? What's that thing there under your hat Is there really something there? Given a chance and different circumstance Would we do the same all over again? Or would we start and never part Except to meet each other again? Didn't you know and didn't you see Have you heard a single word I've said? There was a time you shared with me The thoughts that swirl round in your head. Why don't you see how things could be? You turn away from happiness Even your friends sometimes have to pretend To agree with you that you know best. I haven't given up on Brotherly Love As something that may be the cure I'll keep it up I hope it's enough I wish I were a little more sure Why don't you see how things could be? You turn away from happiness Please turn around without the frown And form your smile around a yes. Given a chance and different circumstance Given a chance and different circumstance
