Valandinne Sings Galdr and Seiðr
for Arie van Schutterhoef
by Misha Nogha
I was born broken
A star crack in the shell of my skull
where the blue sky met the yellow yolk and glowed green from my irises
my pupils stare into the black hole in the center of the Milky Way
And my daily fare is moonbread and chaos
Wandering in the Ginnunga-gap, the universe is a holograph
of which I am a fraction of the whole yet the whole
is reflected in my eyes
Scrying mirrors, water dippers, and gazing crystals
I pocket them all
but it is the opening chord which reveals the future past
You want me to be normal
but it is only an act
to make you turn away
and say that I am like the others
But every step I take is a thin pane of glass
between me and the wilderness of the cosmos
all realities are spoken here
and the nine worlds are the one world
and the center of the shining well
Please release the string of my kite's soul
and let me spiral into the galaxies
and I will return with such exotic treasures
that will make your head spin
I am nothing and everything
silent and howling
the songs I sing are healing
the runes of perfect pitch
when I sing electric blue
you will feel joy
