Story behind the song
"The Rainbow" has a few metaphorical meanings: One is the triad of colors (red, yellow, blue) by which all colors are derived. The other triad is the natural one in music of natural harmonics; most particularly the tonic, major third, and fifth intervals. The other is the Trinity; the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Rainbow also symbolizes God's promises; Renewal after the rain. The other "Rainbow" thing going on here is the arch of the bowed guitar bridge (arcuate string plane). The bow has to "travel the rainbow".
