THIS IS ANOTHER PERFORMANCE BY THE CAL POLY CONCERT BAND, FROM MY FRESHMAN YEAR IN THE BAND. WILLIAM V. JOHNSON WAS THE CONDUCTOR FROM 1966 TO 1992. SHOSTAKOVICH WROTE THIS IN 1954. SOME SAY IT SECRETLY CELEBRATES THE DEATH OF STALIN THE YEAR BEFORE.
