It's about New England, specifically Massachusetts, a complicated, sometimes beautiful, sometimes frustrating place.
Lyrics
NEW ENGLAND DAY BREAK music and lyrics -Bob Buoncuore Dawn broke over Marblehead today Not an unusual New England day Beyond the Beacon Hill snow drifts in space Scarce the sidewalks and the winter grace Along the North Shore rocks, the sea, the sky The waves crashed Ipswich with their winter eyes Gloucester caught us with some lobster surprise While Cape Ann lead her rocky shores to cry Take a broomstick ride and visit Salem, Mass. Their salty air harbor blessed by that wicked witchcraft I still love their Halloween for sale Caldrons and black cats on every trail Take a ride down to the city of Lynn (the city of sin) They say you'll never come out the way you went in I'm not really sure that’s a fact I'll take my chances with your magic act And disappear just like another year Just hold on to your winter hat. Move on down to the Revere sea wall Watch the airplanes pierce the cloud covered halls Empty seagulls screaming for more of Kelly’s fries Cholestorol and all they still take too the skies. Boston Harbor took on the mighty tides today While Charles and Mystic washed the other side away Tunnels and ocean leaks can’t fill the void Rush hour, parking lot you still can't avoid. Ocean sunrise and the horizon sky Takes the hours to the noon time high Cross over the meridian in the afternoon Before you know it It’s time for the evening moon. Dusk set in the Berkshire Hills today As New England fell to nightfall it seem so far away The cycle that never ends Cloud cover is sometimes like an old friend Copyright © 2005 Goodheart Songs/Goodheart Music All rights reserved.
