Story behind the song
My Mom had lost her life to lung cancer. The title of the song is something my father used to say often.
Lyrics
IT’S ALL OVER BUT THE MEMORIES music and lyrics - B. Buoncuore There are times when I don’t mind The rain spray in my face Makes me feel like my life is real Kissed by nature’s grace There are days when I can’t find An angry concept in nature’s design. Cruel knives they shine with their sharpness. In a world where we light the darkness (Chorus One) Now it’s all over but the memories These days are sad and I’m weak in the knees I can’t say I fully understand I guess I’m not supposed to, I’m just one man. But it’s not about me, No, It’s all over but the memories If that was living just to bear a cross Heaven’s reward is our earthly loss. Living to die with no purpose, I suppose Who’s to say what, who really knows? Push my buttons and raise my voice I feel that I have but little choice Frustration flows from all the aggravation. With all the bells and whistles and noise. (Chorus Two) Now it’s all over but the memories Time is forward so forcibly Broken-hearted colors of dreams are now clear A sad state of everywhere. Who’s to say how we should cry? Who’s to say how we should die? If eyes are blinded by faith and tears Who’s to say how many years? Impose your will where it may lie And surprise me, when it’s my time to die Don’t mean to bring you down I’m depressed like the sad clown Sky’s the limit count me in I choose to love life so let’s begin. (Repeat Chorus One) In loving memory of Joanne Buoncuore (1937-2006) Copyright © 2006 Goodheart Songs/Goodheart Music. All rights reserved
