Story behind the song
True breakup song. I had to choose between my music/band and my overly jealous/possessive husband who had his own plans which included me working to put him thru medical school & abandoning my career, hopes & dreams. It was a very painful breakup.
Lyrics
The honeymoon is over. So what am I to say... But it was nice to know you Sugar. Too bad we couldn't stay... satisfied together as we loved the time away. Oh how I hate unhappy endings when the price of love is too high to pay.
Chorus
It costs me every morning. It costs me late at night. The pain of love that is ending. Why must we fuss & fight? I know the honeymoon is over. But I love you anyway. This hopeless situation is driving me insane. Oh don't you feel the way that I do? Is it costing you the same agony that I'm feeling? Or am I suffering.. suffering alone in vain?
2.
Yes the honeymoon is over. There's no disputing that. We're in a funky situation. Is there a way for us to get back to the love we shared together. I had your heart and you had mine. Or were we merely traveling thru each other to another adventure... another space & time?
Repeat Chorus
