Complete remake of this song on 12/12/2009 as last song on 2nd CD. A song about being alone in your old age and maybe we never are really alone. All Instruments/vocals - Tony DeLecce. Dedicated to my Mother.
I wrote this a few years after my mother died. Thankfully she was not alone but I had thoughts that she could be as my siblings all left our home town and just mom and I for the last years of her life and it brought me to mind of Dan Fogelbergs Windows and Walls and I was trying to capture that aloneness that will come to us all in old age but hopefully we can all learn not to be alone. With a life full of memories there is no need to be alone. And a nice little hobby like music helps. LOL!
Shes Never Alone
Words/Music Tony DeLecce 11/7/2003
There is a Lady
who lives down the lane
Living alone Day after Day
Her children are married
and all moved away
Her friends are all gone
theyve all passed away
She lives by herself
but shes never alone
She remembers the days
when her house was a home
Shes the lady whos never alone
She remembers the days
and the nights by the phone
The sounds of her children
when her house was a home
Her days were so long
Her work was never done
She lived for the moment
She was so young
She lives by herself
but shes never alone
She remembers the days
when her house was a home
Shes the lady whos never alone
There was a Lady
who lived down the lane
Living alone
She died yesterday
Her children are married
and live far away
Her friends are all gone
theyve all passed away
She lived by herself
but she was never alone
She remembered the days
when her house was a home
Shes the lady who died all alone
