Country work tape, maybe a touch of rock a billy
My first attempt at writing lyrics in Aug. 07, Mike and Andy took me under their wings to bring my words to life, and I was hooked. This is still a work tape, thanks so much to Andy Googin and Mike Frisby, not only for their musical talents, but for showing me how to structure a lyric.
It's 5 o clock and quittin time
I wern't much good today
seems like your old memory
kept getting in the way
grabbed my hat and locked the door
headed into town
it's where I go to meet my new friends
since your not around
Tonight I'm high as a Georgia pine
feeling low as I can be
Picturing you still sitting there
in that chair right next to me
as Travis sings how it ain't working
I'm workin on this glass of misery
sippin Jack just the two of us
my busted heart and me
I know I stayed out way too late
the morning sun it hurts my eyes
but not as much as all the pain
that's been burning here inside
I turned the key and stumbled in
but it wern't no use at all
just found this grown man crying
at your picture on the wall
Tonight I'm high as a Georgia pine
feeling low as I can be
as Travis sings how it ain't workin
I'm workin on this glass of misery
sippin jack just the two of us
my busted heart and me
The love that we both shared
I know I threw away
honey between the two us
I know just who's to blame
Tonight I'm high as a Georgia pine
feeling low as I can be
like old burn out firewood
off a broken family tree
another quarter another song
another round of misery
sippin jack just the two of us
my busted heart and me
