Story behind the song
This song came to being while driving home after my Tuesday mornings job as a visiting music teacher at a local child care center. I wanted to end each class with a short calming song before moving on to the next group - so I came up with the first verse of the song below while thinking how lucky I was to be working with such great kids. I added the other two verses afterwards to make it long enough to make a recording. You can interpret the song any way you want. I picture 4 year old kids giggling like crazy over "I'm Being Swallowed By A Boa Constrictor" as I sing it, but it could just as easily be considered a love song sung by a husband to his wife ..... The strings were added by my ever talented daughter, Katie.
Lyrics
What a wonderful thing, you and me You and I are like bright, shining stars And here’s what we’ll say at the end of our day How lucky we are who we are, oh How lucky we are who we are Oh, how grateful am I you’re my friend How I love all the things that we do And I’m happy to say at the end of the day How lucky that I have found you, oh How lucky that I have found you May our laughter spill out through the land Throughout cities and towns near and far And may everyone say at the end of the day How lucky we are who we are, oh How lucky we are who we are
