Story behind the song
Jim Pellerite was formerly the pricipal flautist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He became fascinated with the Native American Flute, and has since played that, while encouraging composers to compose for it. This is for Jim, with thanks for his patience, critique and encouragement.
In this piece, I try to invoke a feeling of reverie and nostalgia, as well as the fleeting and varied nature of memories... several musical styles are evident in this piece, flowing together one after another, much like the flow of memories presents us with bits of the past in a similar potpourri of moods.
