Story behind the song
I wrote this about someone for whom I cared very deeply (although we still remain close friends to this day). Had I taken a little initiative, things might have turned out very differently. Alas, I didn't, and I lost out on something good. As it turned out, I'm pretty happy with how my life has gone, but I can only speculate about what might have been. Bob Blanchard, vocals Ray Kim, keyboards and clarinet
Lyrics
THE ROAD LEFT UNCHOSEN Words and music by Ray Kim and Bob Blanchard Verse 1: Girl, it seems like yesterday... You and me on the long road going home... Late at night on the bus from Boston, So weary, and all alone... I can still see that look in your eyes, And I can still feel your long brown hair, And I think we both knew at that moment Just how much we both cared... Chorus: The road left unchosen... We couldve had it all... Where would we be if I had stayed with you...? The moment is frozen Deep in my memory... That a moment could last forever is just something that I never knew, But sometimes they do... Verse 2: Girl, that was ten years ago... And to this day, it still haunts me to the end... I had a good thing looking me right in the eyes, And I let it slip right through my hands... I was so unsure about my feelings, But I always thought I had time to wait... And I finally said how I felt about you, But by then, it was too late... Chorus: The road left unchosen... We couldve had it all... Where would we be if I had stayed with you...? The moment is frozen Deep in my memory... That a moment could last forever is just something that I never knew, But sometimes they do... Copyright (c) 1995, Ray Kim
