There's an ancient Cutteslowe fairy tale about Mr.Frank Fish, the sleeve of his treasured Johnny Winter 'Second Winter' LP, a vast amount of post-gig alcohol and a legless confusion about the difference between a cardboard record sleeve and the Gents toilet. This horrific tale of morning-after guilt, regret and rock'n'roll hangover-humiliation could well have something to do with the inspiration behind the writing of this song...or it might just be a coincidence.
Yesterday I bought some fish
from a supermarket. I drove home in my car
and I parked it.
The fish was on the back-seat
so I reached out to take them in
and I nearly jumped out of my skin
I could not believe what I saw there
I could not believe it
There was a Johnny Winter album cover
next to that fish
I ran into the house
I was screaming. It was a nightmare
But I wasn't dreaming
I saw it with my own eyes
Johnny Winter's face right next to
a piece of fresh plaice
I could not believe what I saw there
I could not believe it
There was a Johnny Winter Album Cover
Next to that fish
