Story behind the song
I got an email from a friend about his wife leaving to see if the grass was greener on the other side. Instead of trashing her and talking her down, he took the high road and only talked about the positive in their relationship. So this guy is basically saying that, "it's my fault", but she is the one who left? He has class. And yes, he'll be fine. If this song had a video, imagine this... Guy and girl fight blah blah blah, she tells him that she is leaving him. Guy ends up in a car crash after drowning his sorrows at the local pub. He is in a coma. While the wife is visiting, his subconscious is singing this song to her during an overhead shot of both of them. Flashbacks of their best times go in and out of focus as the song's climax hits. She leaves something special on his bed as she leaves, a token of their relationship, like a a stone from their first date at the beach. The song's ending is coming and the patient starts to shake. The doctors and nurses rush in, the sound of medical equipment is as loud as the confusion. The wide is crying as she thinks her first love is about to die, when the piano kicks in and his eyes open. Looking at her with tears in both eyes as if to say, "I'll remember only the good times... Go live your life..." The end.
Lyrics
we had it all didn’t we no regrets i still remember that day you came to me took care of me you need to know that you mean so much what I wouldn’t give to see your ever after I know that I was wrong and i know that I can change tell me what I should do I feel like letting go but somewhere inside I still feel you here I wasn’t there but I’m here now just let me show you It’s been so cold since you left here But I try to think of you and smile I dont want you to be afraid anymore I only want to see you like yesterday I know that I was wrong but i know that I can change tell me what I should do I feel like letting go but somewhere inside I still feel you next to me I wasn’t there but I’m here now just let me show you
