Story behind the song
My Father only went to the 8th grade in School but he always told me to remember to "keep your feet on the ground" and "have a good attitude".
I translated that to the words of this song-----Top Hat Attitude.
Lyrics
Top Hat Attitude
There’s a certain look that just oozes confidence.
It just reaches out and says “I’m the Best”,
No need to teeter on a fence.
Its that ever classic feelin---- I call, Top Hat Attitude,
Makes no difference if you wear a Snap Brim,
Its not the hat that makes the mood.
Some folks have a Gift, others try to imitate.
Its easy to see who is “for Real” and
Who is merely “Second Rate”.
You can't fake that special feelin, I call, a Top Hat Attitude.
Cause it’s the way you move, And the way you groove.
That positively sets the mood.
-------------------------------------------------
Its like High Steppin in Tall Cotton,
And lookin’ good while you’re doin’ it.
AW, Strut Your Stuff, Band !!!!
--------------------------------------------------
I think you’re getting’ the idea.
So, Guess I’ll just go ahead on.
---------------------------------------------------
I’m not talkin’ Show-off or a Mister in-between,
Not an obnoxious Loud Mouth, who is
making an unavoidable scene.
This is something special, I call a Top Hat Attitude.
Knowin’ the right When, Where and Why can
Definitely set the mood.
Be Positive thats the rule, we need to accentuate,
Johnny Mercer said Negativity was something,
we could eliminate.
This is a classey feelin, I call a Top Hat Attitude;
Cause it’s the way you move,
And the way you groove.
That positively sets the mood.
Knowin’ the right When, Where and Why adds
A special latitude.
It’s an unbelievable feelin, that we all definitely need:
A Top Hat Attitude.
