Story behind the song
I wrote this song just prior to helping out with a group for those who are recovering, but each one of us is a prodigal son in some way. Mark Stone played the second rythm guitar and sang harmony. I sang the lead, played the fingerstyle ryhthm in DADGAD, and added banjo, bass, washboard and castenet hit with a cool rod.
Lyrics
(V1)
Prodigal Son, where have you run?
Please come home today
The Master of the House is calling you back
Won’t you come home to stay?
(Chorus)
You’ll wear His robe of righteousness
Bought with His precious blood
He’ll wash you with His living water
Abandon the mire and the mud
(V2)
All the servants at the Master’s house
Come to His table to dine
So run back home into His arms
Don’t stay and root with the swine.
