Story behind the song
This was written to honour a very special person who has gone to Heaven.
It's the closing song of the album, and the rain we hear begin the first track, "Here Comes the Rain, Mama!" is heard again closing "The World Sings for You". The rain ends, the sun comes out, the sky is blue and a bird adds his own tribute...
This song was played at John's own funeral on 7th June 2013.
Lyrics
There is this space inside my heart I know
that tells me you have gone away,
but I hope maybe we'll meet again some day.
And I know for all the world
there could be only one like you.
Your honesty and grace were always true.
When I face each day I feel empty now.
The birds are crying too.
The sun and moon and stars are feeling blue.
While these tears are running down my face,
I am feeling no disgrace.
Now with you there, Heaven is surely a better place.
And the whole world sings for you,
remembering, through and through,
all those happy days you made.
And the whole world sings for you,
Lord, while knowing, on and on,
that our sweet memories will never fade.
