A sad country song. All accoustic ballad Growing up can be hard for everyone. Inspired by my youngest daughter. Juri Rosenfeld on Lap Steel Hybrid. Me on everything else and production. Thanks Juri.
I sang the first two lines of this song to a nice melody I had and the song wrote itself from there. My daughter is 18 and I related it to her at least the first two verses. The rest of the song in true songwriting tradition is all made up lets hope the real story has a happier ending.
All the Kings Horses and All the Kings Men
Words/Music Tony DeLecce 9/25/2006
She was only 17,
when she left her home and her family
She was raised in a happy home
Some how she felt she was all alone
Nobody there could understand
the way she felt inside
Chorus
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
couldnt put her broken heart together again
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
learned that some hearts never mend
They had such high hopes for her
They gave her their love, they helped her to learn
Swimming in the morning, ballet at noon
Soccer, softball and Piano too
They could never understand
the way she felt inside
Chorus
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
couldnt put their broken hearts together again
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
learned that some hearts never mend
BRIDGE
They were so sorry
They wished that shed come home
They were so sorry
If only they had known
MIDDLE INSTRUMENTAL LEAD
That was 10 long years ago
When she left her happy home
She thinks about that night long ago
But its too late she can never go home
Married a man who couldnt understand
the way she felt inside
Chorus
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
couldnt put her broken heart together again
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
learned that some hearts never mend
LAST VERSE
Her parents split up 5 years ago
The pain was too great and so was the blame
They could never forgive or forget
so they walked away they left their marriage for dead
They could never learn to live with the pain
they knew she felt inside
Chorus
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
couldnt put their broken hearts together again
All the Kings horses and all the Kings Men
knew that some hearts never mend
BRIDGE
She was so sorry,
she wished that shed stayed home
She was so sorry,
she never was alone.
