I wrote this for my first percussion ensemble knowing we had only four 1 hour rehearsals before the high school's spring concert. This class was added as an after school elective 2 weeks into the 2nd semester. The class is open to all students and meets once a week. In the first few weeks we lost a total of 4 members to sports and flags. We gained 2 members 2 weeks before our first show. All of the members have previous musical experience - one is a cellist, one plays trumpet, one plays clarinet, etc... - but none are "drummers". I am proud of their performance and enthusiasm! In fact, at our dress rehearsal, just hours before the performance, I had members making suggestions to change and add to the piece. We did it!
