For What It's Worth
This is the title track from the 2003 CD released by my band Strych-9. It was our second CD released. This is a song that was inspired by the feelings I was having just before the USA went to war with Afghanistan. I was having mixed emotions at the time most of me was saying go to war, but then a part of me was saying what about our men and women that will be killed. Which came out in a line of the song “It’s easy to say when you’re sittin’ at home when someone else is taking the blows” so that through me into thinking who am I to say we should go to war if I’m not going over there to fight. Then I realized that this is why we have our military to protect our country and the people that live in it and provide the freedom that we have today. That’s why Strych-9 dedicated this CD to the United States Marine Corp. Thanks Ron Hirsch

It’s a mystery in my mind
Things keep changing all the time
You’re here right now, but then you’re gone
Well how can I feel so strong?
About the world I’m living in today
When things keep changing in every way
Well you hope for the best but prepare for the worst
I’m taking it all, for what it’s worth
Yes I’m taking it all, for what it’s worth
Yes, I’m taking it all
All that I know is all I see
Is it time for war to preserve peace?
Well it’s easy to say when you’re sittin’ at home
When someone else is taking the blows
Has it come to this? Is it time to fight?
Well doesn’t it even matter what’s wrong or what’s right
All that I know is I’ll fight for truth
I’m taking the field for what it’s worth
Yes I’m taking it all
Has it come to this? Is it time for war?
Doesn’t it really matter what were fighting for?
All I know is I’ll fight for truth
I’m taking the field for what it’s worth
FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH! FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH!
I’m taking the field for what it’s worth
FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH! FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH!
I’m taking the field for what it’s worth
Oh never again, Oh never again, will they ever touch me
Not like this, I’m taking the field I’m taking the field
I’m taking the field for what it’s worth
