HIS EYES

(ascap)
He was working the late shift again
When he got a call about 1 A. M.
Saying this is the day
The baby's on its way
She said I'm on my way to the hospital
I've already given the doctor a call
I'll meet you there
But I'm a little scared
He drops the phone
Runs to his car
And down the road
A man leaves a bar
Crosses the center line
And they collide
It's not too long till help arrives
They check his pulse
He's not alive
And it's all because
People drink and drive
(instrumental)
Later in her hospital room
They come in to give her the news
And she starts to cry
The baby's by her side
She picks him up
And holds him tight
Then she stares deep into his eyes
For a little while
Then she says with a smile
(chorus)
I see you each and every time
I look into your baby's eyes
I swear it's true
He's a picture of me and you
And you're still alive
I see you in his eyes
As she lays there the door opens again
She looks up as he walks in
Yes, he survived
It was the drunk man that died
And he heard her say
( repeat chorus )
