I don't remember how exactly but was sitting there and this image of someone running barefoot through clouds popped into my head. The rest of the lyrics just kinda spilled forth.
The image was also of a woman who is so beautiful that men are afraid to approach her. And, in the end, she always goes for the wrong guy.
Looking out the window
See a street car running by
Looking in the mirror
See a tear fall from her eye
Call her name
Call her name
See the rain...
Looking out from a parked car
See the city standing still
Looking around for a hairbrush
See her beauty is working still
Call her name
Call her name
Use the pain...
CHORUS:
Running barefoot through the clouds
Can't cut yourself on cotton
Beauty lets her get her way
But she's been there much too often
Looking out from the tenth
All the men look nicer here...
Looking for a miracle
She can't love without the fear
Call her name
Call her name
Just the same...
[ CHORUS ]
Running from the silence
Running to the fame
Running from the things she feels -
Too much is just the same...
Looking out from her window
Hear the lies and endless guilt
Looking at her bedside
See the flowers slowly wilt
Call her name
Call her name
Use the pain
[ CHORUS ]
Looking out the window
Hear the lies and endless guilt
Looking at her bedside
See the truths that man has built
Call her name
Call her name
Too much is not the same
