Short little ditty mostly in a fun 11/8 groove.

Jon and Chuck came up with a cool (verse) groove and it just kinda came together really fast. Wrote lyrics/vocals for it and voila. Though we only kinda played live once (hell, we only _played_live_ once) we sorta looked at is as our 'signature tune.'
Lyrically it's fundamentally about fear and a fear of taking risks. But, as for a bit of background, I was in an odd phase of the whole coming out process. There's a point many of us reach and realize that being openly queer is fundamentally political. It's deciding how political you want it to be that can be a tricky line to navigate.
That and the fact that I'm always looking at guys and wishing I had the balls to walk up and say, "hi. You're cute. Wanna fuck?"
So you don't want to hide behind these picket-fence fantasies
Or bury your dreams in crowds and in noise
So you don't want to dance or carry on conversations
So you buy another round of excuses and lies
[ CHORUS ]
Stolen glances are your only romances
Borrowed lies are taking up all your time
Spending dances buying lonely chances
Swallowed pride - can you ride this line?
So you got your wings and bought your fairy tales
And you think you can have it all when it goes on sale
So you live in the past but don't like the history
Well then don't run to me to make you a man.
