A song about a memorable moment in my life that took place in front of a package store somewhere in New England, late summer 1993.

During a very exasperation stay at a summerhouse. I ventured out for provisions and saw this beautiful young man herding his charges onto the summer Bible camp bus that was parked across from the package store. I wasnt ready for the jolt of electricity that went through my body when his eyes met mine. So he cant have been ready for it either, and he mustve found it just as memorable, so I hope it led him to a life of joy and not a hell of religious guilt. The song alludes to the possibility that this fleeting encounter may have contributed to the demise of the narrators relationship. It couldnt have helped.
VERSE 1
I was staying with too many people
At a summerhouse up the road
Where the land mines had been planted
Even then they were sure to explode
As you herded your summer Bible campers
Back onto the bus
For a moment there was only us
PRE-CHORUS
And the fire in your eyes seemed to be
Burning just for me
And they showed me so much more
Than I had any right to see
CHORUS
And Ill never forget the feeling
When our eyes first met
Only one time they met
Still I cant forget
And I wouldnt forget the feeling
Even if I could
Cause it feels too good
You were too beautiful, I wonder
HOW YOUR STORY ENDS
VERSE 2
I was soon to be disentangled
From a web of endless lies
When my love fell for another
With that same fire in his eyes
And I hope you werent entangled
In a web of guilt and shame
Though I never even knew your name
PRE-CHORUS 2
But the secrets of your soul
You showed me all too easily
So I hope someday you found someone
To set your spirit free
CHORUS 2
Cause you never forget that feeling
When our eyes first met
Only one time they met
Still you dont forget
And you wouldnt forget the feeling
Even if you could
Cause it feels too good
You were too beautiful, I wonder
HOW YOUR STORY ENDS
(INTERLUDE)
CODA:
No I wouldnt forget the feeling
Even if I could
Cause it was all too good
That golden summer day
You took my breath away
You were too beautiful
This is where our story ends
