Matthew Scott -- Piano, drums, wind, engineer John Pfeifer -- Vocal, guitar, bass, music/lyrics
Originally written Xmas break '85 - '86 after a magical night, which still seems like a dream, with the girl I was secretly and madly in love with. We recorded a more "plugged-in" version in '89 (with electric guitar), which we may clean up and release as well. This is the brand-spanking new version.
I took you for a ride in the country
and you sort of took me for a little ride yourself.
What shall we look for,
what shall we find?
On this little
on this little ride into the country.
We looked for a lonely place,
and I looked for a lonely halogen lamp.
What were the words you said,
and what were mine?
On this little
on this little ride into the country.
You expounded on your theories,
and I expounded on the coldness of the night.
What were your motives,
and what were mine?
On this little
on this little ride into the country.
I waited for your call.
I waited for the cool warmth of your hand.
And I waited for an answer to it all
We tried to avoid the feelings
that you seemed to have felt just the night before.
But now are they really
what they had seemed?
After this little
after this little ride into the country
