Depression and dealing with it. For me it is an up and down struggle. A back and forth tug of war. This lyric is another attempt from me to write about the condition.

Sometimes I am up. Sometimes I am down and when I am down I try to write.
Lost in the Shadows

Sometimes I feel
like I'm not there,
like a shadow lost in the shade.
All alone, on my own.
Confused, depressed, and afraid.
Then the sun peeks out
from those dark, black clouds,
and with it, my spirit returns.
If only a moment
before an overcast sky
brings out my latest concern.
Break:

On occasion, I feel
like I'm concealed
in a corner hidden, out of sight.
Shrouded in layers
with no visible form,
hidden in the pitch of the night.
Then a light is switched on
and the blackness is gone
and I stand up and cry out in joy.
If only a moment
before the darkness returns
and I'm faced with another concern.

Lost in the shadows,
alone in the darkness,
crying out for the light.
Yearning to be seen for
who I am, who I've been.
For those days when the light doesn't shine.
Lost in the shadows of my mind.

Struggles in life
cut deeply but hide,
sometimes in clear view.
But if one doesn't see
what has its hold on me
there isn't anything I can do.
