Story behind the song
Vice President Mike Pence,
God is Watching.
You need to invoke the 25th Amendment
of the United States Constitution.
This man is insane and unfit for office.
Today in Washington DC,
in the Capitol Building, a woman died.
Because Donald had to incite violence,
and too many impressionable people,
followed suit. This needs to stop, now.
Mike, do the right thing,
or tell it later on to God Himself.
Okay, this is just... me...
turning all this into a public service announcement.
Which, okay, I'll do that sometimes.
Anybody who knows me, knows this.
That having been said,
recently Gerry passed over to the 'fun side'...
where all the cool people are...
you know... "The Hereafter"...?
And a lot of these dead famous musicians
are in my band, 'cause, I'm a channeler,
and I channel, oh, quite a few of 'em.
So now...
Yeah, you see where this is headed, Good, saves me time!
Gerry, is officially now, one of my Apostles!
Well, yeah. I'm Jesus, do the math, please.
Anyway... Gerry came... oh yes, he showed up, you betcha...
he was comforting me, can you believe it?
I'm not gonna lie, Folks, I cried
when I learned news of Gerry Marsden's death.
I just cried. And there is the man himself,
trying to console me...
I kid you not.
"Look, I'm alright. Really... I had a good life...
I got to do a lot of amazing things..."
By now, he's already moved upward,
out of my immediate sphere...
but, he was, here...
in my house, with me...
for a couple of days, yeah.
I told him,
"I'm going to buy you a steak dinner."
And I did.
And my God, it was a big steak.
I mean, ginormous. Took us two days to eat.
Finished it off yesterday.
Also what occurred yesterday,
is I made a record,
and yes, Folks, now I'm gonna tell you,
'cause I know you see this coming...
"Oh... he's now gonna tell us that Gerry helped him do it!"
Well yes, that's exactly what I'm going to tell you.
Gerry helped me do it!
And apparently, this, was all part of God's complex and intricate plan,
and I'm a friggin' simpleton as geniuses go,
so don't ask me to explain it better than that, 'cause I can't.
But we were meant, to make this record.
So, anyway, we did. It's out there now.
"YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE".
And yeah, it's a beautiful song, incredibly.
It's practically a religious psalm if you're in Liverpool, England.
Particularly at Football Games, I understand.
And, I wanted, for us to do a version,
every bit as worthy,
as Gerry's original version,
apparently done in 1963, Wow.
I was like 3 years old then!
So, I asked Gerry to sing it with me...
you know, this time.
And he did.
Now, originally, it was my intent
(boy this Jesus guy can yammer on, huh)
yeah I can.
Now, it was originally my intent,
to do, virtually an exact identical replica
of Gerry's version.
And I was gonna put all kinds of strings,
you know, orchestration, into this.
And we ended up, not doing that.
And that, Folks, was Gerry's idea.
Why.
Because Gerry liked, how it sounded,
as just, as he put it,
and you have to understand a bit
about Liverpudlian Colloquialisms
to understand where this is coming from I suppose,
because this, our version,
as you can hear it now, and download it for free,
we're fantastically nice that way...
well Gerry said to me,
"How about, if we DON'T put the orchestra strings and all that on this?"
I said "Why."
He said "because this, what we have here?
it's the bloody dog's knuckles.
right out there. the naked thing.
we could embellish, but this... "
So I said Okay.
Lyrics
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
