My Brothers : Alamo Rogers/P. B. Barnes... of the #SpreadTexasMusicLive Show (On Facebook) inspired the title for this song.
There is always a negative vibe associated with calling music "Elevator Music."
The story behind how that term developed, is actually really cool.
When elevators were first invented, the first passengers had a lot of apprehension about riding them.
So, somebody had the idea to introduce playing calming music in the elevators to reduce the fear in passengers..... and it worked. Hence the term: "Elevator Music" was born.
There have even been medical studies that show that listening to Jazz music is very soothing and good for your health.
When I submitted my first song to the #SpreadTexasMusicLive Show, My brothers Alamo/PB lovingly....and jokingly......said that it sounded like they were on an elevator going up to the 14th Floor. That has now become a standing inside joke between us, whenever they see me, or, whenever one of my Smooth Jazz songs plays.
As I was listening to this song, It sounded like I was in an elevator..in a fancy casino or hotel. So, I decided to name the song: Going Up (14th Floor). I swear, I could even hear the elevator operator saying: 14th Floor Sir? lol.
Plus, I was already playing around with the album title: Elevator Music. So, it was a perfect fit.
The world is in massive chaos right now. If music that I create can bring calm and peace, in a world or disorder, I proudly take the responsibility.
