Story behind the song
Upon the climactic conclusion of Ravel's Bolero one August afternoon, my daughter immediately began to hum this melody. Ironically, I had always considered it to be unconsciously influenced by the great twentieth century composer, whose work I admire greatly. Originally found in 'Minuet in D,' the engaging descending and ascending motif I found so attractive that I considered using a derivation of it as part of a different composition. Beginning with the temple block, the track takes on an orchestral feel as tympani, vibraslap, triangle and snare texture the production. I had great fun in its production, and it will remain among my favorite works...
