An acoustic love song, partly in Italian
This song started with the flute riff, which came out one day while noodling with the guitar. Chords were added, and eventually the idea of doing it as a love song with lyrics partly in Italian. Acoustic guitar and mandolins were added as a way of keeping the arrangement from becoming too 'heavy' (brass and string parts were eventually rejected for this reason). The flute part is played by my daughter, age 11. I wanted to keep the song short and simple, without making it overly long or complicated. Even with drums, it feels very warm and open, while the acoustic solo is probably a first.
Mio Piccolo Fiore,
Always on my mind
Sempre pieno di amore
Look and you will find
If I give you my heart forever
Will you give yours back to me?
I want you like I want no other
My dark-eyed lady
Mio Piccolo Fiore,
You know what you feel
Guarda nel tuo cuore
You know that it's real
And now my heart belongs to you
Don't break it with your smile
Just kiss me like you always do
I'm waiting all the while
Mi gusto le tue labbra
la guancia morbida
Ricordo bene
come il vino per me
Mio Piccolo Fiore,
Always on my mind
Sempre pieno di amore
Look and you will find
If I give you my heart forever
Will you give yours back to me?
I want you like I want no other
My dark-eyed lady
