Story behind the song
Written by "Barney and Seymore", actually Pierce City, Mo. ragtimer Theron C. Bennett, 1904. I heard Dave Van Ronk do this in the Village many years ago, and wore out my friend Kevin's precious Van Ronk album listening to it. This is what I remember about it from the 60's if you remember the 60's, you weren't really there
Lyrics
Wish I could shimmy like my sister Kate, She knows how to shimmy and She knows how to shake She knows how to shimmy, she's got what it takes, Wish I could shimmy like my sister Kate. Wish I could mmmm, like nnaa,daya-da dee-dee de dee dee .... From "12String" available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/artsulger
