Although the last song written, it is the first song of four making up my homage to the western saga. A girl can dream, right?
RAVEN FLIES
Tattoo on a pearl grey sky
Raven flies, I hear his cry
Tidings of a sad goodbye
What becomes of an angry man
With a gun clenched in his hand
A made up mind can’t understand
Well he rode to save my honor
Someone else got in the way
Now he’ll live with it forever
And they’ll hunt him down till his dying day
The villain often gets away
Hearts are broken everyday
Sometimes a woman has no say
Gliding low above his tracks
Feathers purple, green and black
Says my man’s not coming back
Well he’ll follow that old river
Chase after that far horizon
Where he’ll wander and grow bitter
But I’ll watch for him with each dying sun
Tattoo on a pearl grey sky
Raven flies, I hear his cry
Tidings of a sad goodbye
