Story behind the song
I wrote this song in 1979 at the age of 19 after God re-kindled the fires of commitment and passion to live for him after I rededicated my life back to him! I had gotten side tracked for about 2 years as a teenage Christian. All I ever knew was Church life growing up in a strict pentecostal setting i did not experience a lot of worldly pleasures and lust's. Due to mostly peer pressure and temptation, I backslid for a short period of time only to find that the world had nothing to offer me but a lot of emptiness and meaningless cheap thrills. I burned in my heart to get back to the place I once knew and loved in God! After I recommitted my life back to following Jesus (Mainly due to a vision) shortly thereafter I wrote this song to express how I felt about my Lord! I wanted more of his spirit and to be more like him with each passing day. Two years later I recorded it in Nashville Tennessee on a 45 single with my group "Garry Moore & New Joy" It was the B side of the record. The A side was another song I wrote titled "Until The End" which I wrote at age 17.. In 2014 I decided to re-release it with a new arrangement at the request of my "Dear Mother" who loves this song! she had asked me over the years to remake a new version of the song but I kept on putting it off. However, in 2013 32 years later after the original version, God put it in my spirit to do it all over again with a new arrangement which sounds nothing like the 1981 version. The old version is good, but I think this one is more dramatic and powerful musically. It's just better!
