Breezy but personal pop song for my late niece, Mary Lauren Schaub. It is a song about impossibilities.

Story behind the song
I wrote this song out of grief and being tired of grieving. Lauren was struck by a car on Mother's Day 2001, the day after her junior prom. In the last photos taken of her that night, she is a lovely Snow White, her dark hair contrasting with her pale skin. She poses in a flowing sea foam gown, her face full of aspirations. I had known Lauren as a small child and had watched her grow up. She was a tenacious and unique individual, and her death has been hard to reconcile. She was so close to adulthood and becoming the person she would be. I wrote this song in an attempt to understand her passing. I wanted to memorialize her life and acknowledge how much she touched us. By the way, she liked to climb trees!
Lyrics
She Won't Come Down We should have known from the cars in the road. She won't come down flying up a tree. All of the sky opened up-- watch her fly. She won't come down flying up a tree. Maybe you will find her walking at night in summer green no shoes and no pockets leave her alone. Maybe you will find her walking through walls and canopies. Butterfly without compass, you are free. We should have seen from the tilt of the leaves She won't come down flying up a tree. It's in the wind-- take it down-- breathe it in. And you will see some of what she sees. Maybe you will find her walking. She's right in front of me. On the grass in her stockings. Call out to me. Call out to me. Call out to me. Call out to me. Maybe you will find her walking. She's right in front of me. Butterfly without compass, you are free. You are free. You are free. You are free. You are free. You are free. Call out to me (will you) Call out to me (will you) Call out to me (will you) Call out to me.
