Summer's almost here so, I thought I'd parody some "Surf Music", and I picked on Jan and Dean. Since the song is about over-eating, I guess it can be classified as "Snarf Music' instead. Mangia!!!
I wrote this parody six years ago but, now that I live near the beach, I thought I should give recording it a shot. Thanks to Tom Phipps for helping me out with some of the notes I couldn't hit.
Yes, the little old lady loves pasta dinners…
The little old lady loves pasta dinners
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
Penne, ziti, fettuccine, she just stuffs it in her
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
Her son had to rush her into triage
When a meatball, in her throat, got itself lodged
And everybody’s noticed she ain’t gettin’ no thinner
‘Cause the little old lady loves pasta dinners
She eats real fast, got to have her carbs
And her friends, they all call her an old tub o’ lard
Yes, the little old lady loves pasta dinners…
While the other ladies meet for tea and knitting
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
She’ll pound two lasagnas down in just one sitting
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
She’ll be needin’ a new ticker, or defibrillator
‘Cause she can’t keep her face out the refrigerator!
I’m guessin’ she’s obsessin’ with that old semolina
Yeah the little old lady loves pasta dinners
The bills pile up on her Diner's Card
At Italian places from La Jolla to Oxnard
Yes, the little old lady loves pasta dinners…
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
Her meatballs must weigh about half a pound
Yeah, she’ll cook ‘em right up, then she’ll put ‘em down
The Biggest Loser called to say she wasn't the winner
‘Cause she couldn't stop eating those pasta dinners
She gets bad gas, blames her St. Bernard
And, the hint of garlic emanates from all her garb
Yes, the little old lady loves pasta dinners
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
(Go granny, more gravy, go granny go!)
